Gleissner made his directorial debut in 2005 with Irreversi, which stars Mei Melançon, Ian Bohen, Kenny Doughty and Estella Warren. With Irreversi, Gleissner made a breakthrough, instead of merely dubbing or sub-titling he shot the film in both English and Mandarin with two sets of cast and crew. Its Mandarin counterpart, Hui Lu (Margaret Wang, Hawick Hau-Wai Lau, Sasha Hou, Qin Hao) were released in late 2007.
Prior to Irreversi, Gleissner executive produced the feature film 3 Needles, a three-paneled look on the worldwide AIDS crisis starring Lucy Liu, Sandra Oh & Chloe Sevigny. 3 Needles opened in several major US cities in December 1, 2006 - in conjunction with World AIDS Day - and has gone on to receive critical acclaim.
Gleissner continued Executive Producing in 2006 with USS Cooper: Return to Ormoc Bay, the romantic comedy Falling For Grace and the award-winning teen comedy The Curiosity of Chance. USS Cooper: Return to Ormoc Bay is the documentary on Rob Lalumiere's record-breaking 193-meter dive to place a memorial plaque a battleship that was torpedoed during World War II. In Falling for Grace, the Chinese American Grace (played by Fay Ann Lee) is mistaken for a Hong Kong heiress at a socialite event, where she also meets her Prince Charming. The teen comedy The Curiosity of Chance has bagged several awards. Among these awards are Best New Director (2006 Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Fest) and Best of the Fest (2007 Palm Springs Int'l Film Fest).
